About me and my journey

So this is me now... having to make some lifestyle changes for a better healthier me (and my daughter and my husband too). All my life I have a weight problem, I was always on 'diets', I joined and rejoined Weight Watchers probably 10 times, having lost alot of weight, and regaining it all, at one point I had lost 100 lbs, but after University, real life set in, and I slowly gained it all back. Then I got married and had a baby, 10 years ago... and I believe I have been hiding behind the 'tired, busy, mother' facade for that long. In the meantime, I developed high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol and take lots of pills to control all these problems. I found a doctor who started to care about me and decided to refer me to the Wharton Medical Clinic- a weight management clinic that helps people like me. I went to meet them and have had a mountain of 'wake up and smell the coffee' hit me. It's been just 5 weeks, but I am doing it!!!

I am eating 6 meals/snacks a day, protein, high fibre, low fat, fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy too. Drinking 8 glasses of water a day and exercising 30 minutes a day. I follow the basic advice found in the Dr. Oz book, You on a Diet. Healthy, non-processed eating, nothing white! (okay, except for milk). I log all my food and activity with this free online tool called fitnesspal. It's an amazing way to count calories, carbs, protein, fat and fibre as well as measure the activity you do in a day. Check out my links to get all the details

I am living this new healthy lifestyle, I spend my time focused on making, finding, planning healthy foods...the other side of me is that I love creating, art, nail polish designs and the 'old-fashioned' art of scrapbooking... so here you have both sides of my personality... simmer and glimmer!

I want to share with you some pictures of me that inspire me to do what I know I have been able to do in the past, lose weight and becoming a 'slimmer' me. These pictures are currently on my fridge at the moment and display what I accomplished by losing 100 lbs. These photos were scanned in, so pardon the quality, but back in 1989-1990, we didn't have digital photos.
