I have been meaning to create some more pretty art pieces to hang in my 'newish' bedroom. Since art is so expensive to buy, I decided to make my own... 'cause that's how I roll.
I took some of my brother's old canvases and painted the exact wall colour of my bedroom over them (thanks Charles!). I then got some inspiration, because of my bed linens to cover them with wild flowers. Using the colours in my bedroom, I made pretty white, purple and green circles.
... oh and I did that twice and added some plaint 'splotches' for drama!!!
Then I went to my local dollar store and bought some fake flowers and glued them on some of the circles, my favourites are the white and green 'balls'.
So here you have it, hanging above my bed two pretty, flowery masterpieces, and the hot glued balls have not yet fallen on my head!
Oh yeah, one more thing, I needed something in my bathroom for the other wall, I found these lovely art cards at Ikea and frames... so I matted them in white and voila! Fun, don't you think?

Waves of Blue
Did you ever see my new bathroom art work? I call it Waves of Blue.... oh, and before you ask..., yes, I did get the concept from Pinterest.
I love the way te colours flow like water!
This is how you start... get some dollarama canvases...
...spend hours making lots and lots of chevron shapes while bitting your lips...

...and after a while, you are done tapping your canvases. Thanks Sarah for the Frog tape advice. It barely 'blead' through.
I took the colours that matched my towels and hung them free style ( I am so about not measuring)! And there you have it Waves of Blue, and my cat Ace looking for some water... but that's another story.

LOVE and a Happy New Year
Happy New Year everyone. I thought I would send out some LOVE to you all on the first day of this year! I shared my Britto inspired love... Mella doing Zumba, this time I wanted to share with you another Britto inspired painting I created.
It's simply called LOVE. Right....!!!! I hung it on the adjacent wall to the Mella doing Zumba painting in my dining room.
In the craft/computer room part of my home, I created more LOVE. This time with buttons mounted onto paper lined canvases... yes, another idea I got from Pinterest.

And this is something I have wanted to do for a long time. Finally, I got all the pictures I needed printed to create a wall full of the children that our special in our lives- the kids we LOVE. Family, friends... they are all up there... and yes, this is something I saw on Pinterest. I love Pinterest.

Mella doing Zumba- an hommage to Britto
You know I love the artist Britto. The bold, bright colours all outlined in black, like old time Fauvism (my grade 10 art teacher would be proud to know I still remember). Well, after the renovations in my home, my goal was to create some bold and bright art work for the walls to spice it up! I came upon this image of a Britto painting on Pinterest and fell in love.
I call it Mella doing Zumba.
This is the beginning stage of the transformation of an old canvas my brother left behind. See the little model I was working from? It took some time to reproduce...

...but I think it was worth it! It hangs in my dinning room wall above the new Ikea credenza and it just punches the room up with colour.

Great Artist- Britto
I am all about colour, the brighter the better. So when my mother gave me my first Britto piece, I just loved it... Now I want the whole collection. Check out the artist's website. http://www.britto.com/
I have a beautiful mug.
And a lovely Salt and Pepper cat.

You see, my mom just knows that I love cats... always have.
Just look at my 2 cats, Diamond and Vanilla napping together like a bunch of lazy bums.
Walking up only to lick each other... nice life eh!
