Arts and Crafts for a Special Girl's Special Birthday

I love being crafty, because I get to use lots and lots of colours to express the colours of my soul!!!!
I had to think of a special present for Stephanie, my niece, who was turning 1, something she might use for a while and that was unique and thoughtful. On a research mission at my local Michael's I came up with this idea. A wooden stool covered in beautiful paper with a monkey in the middle!

I just love how the scrapbooking papers and the monkey all match.

When I was younger I always wanted to host my own craft show on TV- but I am way too messy and don't follow the rules... I am a rebel crafter you could say.... but anyways... this little picture demo is sort of making those dreams come true!
So I used my scrapbooking tools to cut out ovals of coordinating papers and I was going to podge the paper onto the bench.

As for the bottom, I thought I would paint it and the legs a coordinating colour. I even put little fuzzy felt protectors on the legs.

I also thought I would buy a little trinket box and cover it all up with the same paper and monkey motif.

Here's the sweet little box, with the monkey in the middle and little coordinating flowers on the side. This was a little trickier to do, I also did the inside. It came out a bit sticky... perhaps it can be just a show piece.

Great Gift Idea.... In a Jar!

This great gift idea was inspired from another blogger.  http://www.thegunnysack.com/2011/10/everything-in-jar-handmade-gifts.html
I kind of reinvented it to suit the needs of my friends and my new inspiration of eating Healthier foods.

So I called them Health and Beauty in a Jar and Purse Rescue in a Jar.

I bought a dozen 1L jars at Canadian Tire and had so much fun shopping for all of the fun things to fill the jars. Let me tell you, I bought way too much for what could fit in that jar.

Here's what fit in the Health and Beauty in a Jar...

Crafty Christmas- Merry Christmas Trees

Merry Christmas to all and may all futures be calm and bright!

I thought I would share with you an entry about Crafts instead of food. You might all be sick of food at this point.  But wait until I share my mother and I's Healthier Christmas Eve and Christmas Dinner Fair.

This is an idea I got from another blogger. http://mylifeandkids.com/2011/11/ho-ho-holidays-mod-podge-christmas-trees.html . You use scrapbooking paper, mod podge and a blank canvas (we got ours at Dollarama).

So Melanie and I gave it a try and really liked how they turned out. We made 3 for our home and a few as gifts too!

Here's my first try. I stuck with red  for Christmas.

Here's Melanie's try, she used lighter brighter papers and it turned out beautiful.

And then I loved them so much I made 3 more for my other wall, 1 tree per canvas...
